Surprise surprise the Circle is bad but isn’t it so incredibly fucked up that the Tranquil don’t go back to their families. Like the whole point mages get locked up in the tower is so they can’t hurt anyone with their magic, right? But if you’re Tranquil you can’t even like…punch someone. They can only make enchantments, so the Circle uses them as slave labor bc they’re no way they’re paying them. All the Tranquil we see in the games (afaik) are literally slaves of the Circle or someone else, none of them are just chilling in with their parents in Redcliffe or anything. Does the circle even tell their families what happened to them? Imagine your kid gets taken away from you and twenty years later you find out they were lobotomized and and used as a slave and no one let you have them back, despite the fact they were taken away for “your own protection.”

Gaider said they’re “free to leave” but if you’re stripped of all emotion, how can you ever desire to stay or leave anywhere? Why would the Chantry be comfortable using them for labor? Why wouldn’t the Chantry just automatically give them back? Especially since Karl literally proves that the Tranquil can’t control themselves and their actions are not their own!

and the insane thing is (sorry for starting all my posts this way) the insane thing is if it was so important to keep alistair’s parentage secret and give him a good life and a fresh start like his mother asked, they could have literally not told alistair anything. they didn’t have to make up some confusing lie abt a servant mother complete with an amulet to my knowledge never mentioned by fiona, if hiding that he was maric’s son was the important thing. they could have told him he was anyone’s son. but they wanted to raise him in the kennels with the dogs and then pack him off aged 10 to the templars where he was supposed to get addicted to lyrium to better imprison and kill people like his own mother, and have him as a spare to pull out from nowhere if anything happened to cailan. so he had to know maric was his father regardless of how it completely fucked up his perception of himself, just in case it was useful. and what they did decide to lie to him about was that his mother was an elf and a grey warden and a mage, because that would tarnish that usefulness and their ability to drag him into yet another life he didnt want whenever it was convenient

There is no motivation for me to uncollapse the reblog chain—it looks like a boring conversation about the denominations of coins. And even if I do uncollapse it, you've ruined the joke by showing me the punchline before the setup. I am sad, Tumblr is boring, I go elsewhere to entertain myself, I see less ads, you make less money, everyone loses. 😥

Reblog chains are the best thing about Tumblr. They are your unique super power. They are the thing that makes people screenshot Tumblr and share it around. Why on earth would you kneecap them??

I don't know exactly how you plan to implement this. Give people the option to keep them collapsed if there truly are people who are annoyed by how long they can get (you already have a version of this feature), but don't collapse them for everyone or new users by default. Please. It will make Tumblr so much more boring.
